About
Chae Yun Park
Biography
Painting memories, emotions and moments of curiosity through intuitive abstraction.
Born in Seoul, South Korea, Chae Yun Christine Park is a contemporary artist based in Paris. Having lived in South Korea, New Zealand and France, her work is shaped by cultures, languages and lived experiences. After studying Spatial Design and working as an interior designer, she chose in 2024 to leave her design career and pursue her lifelong dream of painting.
Park paints intuitively, allowing colour, movement and instinct to guide each work. Inspired by memories, music, travel and everyday sensations, she creates expressive abstract paintings that invite viewers to discover their own stories. Believing there is no single meaning in art, she embraces the unique emotions and conversations each painting inspires, where colour becomes emotion, intuition becomes process, and curiosity becomes connection.
Artistic approach
When I paint, it allows me to be really myself at the moment. I zone out for a couple of minutes, hours, who knows how long. I am lost in time and moments. I focus on the moment, the instinctive, unconscious mind, when I take out and pick up my brush with my hand. I don't like to plan things, as I believe in the universe that works through me, as an artist being part of the world, and maybe more of the unknown. In my artworks, there are no answers or correct descriptions. Even I have different impressions each time I look at my painting. I am more interested in what viewers(you) think of them. I like to hear your own interpretations and stories from your own perspective when you look at my artworks. In this way, I feel like I can really connect with you, the viewers, and the world. I feel like I can really connect within this world through my artworks.
